New Music on the Horizon...

I recently spent three productive days with Tom Eaton at his Sounds & Substance studio in New Hampshire. Together, we recorded 16 pieces for a new solo guitar album. I can't imagine creating music with anyone else. Tom always makes the process of recording easy and thoroughly enjoyable. His musical input and creative collaboration is always spot on. He is a master of his craft.

There is a lot about this music that is new for me. Most notably, it was recorded entirely on my Kenny Hill New World Player classical guitar. Because I teach classical guitar, it's the guitar that is in my hands every day. It's the guitar that I write on every morning. It feels like home. In fact, I have hardly touched a steel string guitar in the last year or so. Tom was able to perfectly capture the beautiful, warm, inviting sound of this instrument. 

The pieces are intentionally short, melody driven, and have space for breathing. All have come from early morning writing sessions over the last couple years. 

I am extremely happy with this music. I think it will appeal to listeners of classical crossover music, new age, and contemporary fingerstyle guitar. I know this music will put listeners in a good place.

The plan is to release a few singles from the album in the fall leading up to a full album release in January 2025. I am also thinking of printing CDs for the old school listeners who still love a physical product. The entire album will also be available in standard notation & TABs.

On a side note…the Pirates currently have a winning record. I hope they keep it up for our trip out to Pittsburgh in August. Fingers crossed, sacrifices to baseball Gods made.
